Best online blackjack casino sites UK

Online casinos are becoming more and more popular in the UK, and one of the most popular games is online Blackjack. This game, also known as 21, is a very popular card game, which is especially popular with players who prefer a fast game and don’t like to wait a long time for the result.

What is interesting about online Blackjack is that the table players do not compete against each other, but each player plays their own game against the dealer. Your potential win or therefore, losing does not depend on the other players, and your only goal is to beat the dealer. At the same time, it is the only popular casino game in which the player, and not the casino, has an advantage. It is also very popular among players for this reason.

In this article, we will introduce you to the basic variants of online Blackjack that you will encounter in online casinos UK, we will explain the main rules, terms, and signals used in the game and the most famous strategies that players from all over the world use to play the game.

How to play blackjack online for real money?

We dare to say that playing Blackjack online is easier than playing in a land-based casino. You don't have to travel anywhere, and the registration and deposit process takes minutes, so you can start playing almost immediately. A quality online casino will give you a choice of several versions of Blackjack from different providers, so you can very quickly try out what suits you.

Time Needed: 10 Minutes Tools Needed: Laptop/Mobile Software Needed: Email
Step 1
Choose the best blackjack online casino in the UK
Choose the best blackjack online casino in the UK

We understand that choosing the best online casino is not an easy task, as the choice is incredibly large and it is difficult to distinguish the quality. We have prepared for you a list of verified casinos that we have tried ourselves and found out what bonuses they offer to their new players. We believe that seeing these offers in one place will make it easier for you to compare them and decide which casino to deposit your money with. You can click on these individual bonus offers from the casino to find out the specific conditions and in case one of them appeals to you, just click on "Get bonus" and you will be automatically redirected to the casino page.

Step 2
Register at the online casino
Register at the online casino

If you manage to find a casino that suits you from our list and get redirected to their site, it's time to create a registration to get a player account and start playing. The registration process is very simple, you only need to fill in your personal data correctly and truthfully in the form on the casino's website. The next step is to verify your contact information, which is usually your email and phone number. After filling in these data, you should receive an email that needs to be confirmed and you will receive an SMS on your phone containing a code that you will describe on the casino's website to complete the registration. This should activate your player profile.

Step 3
Make your first deposit
Make your first deposit

After successfully completing the registration, you will be asked to make your first deposit. The process is also very simple and intuitive and takes a few minutes, depending on the chosen payment method. This is also why payment processing is fast, especially if you register in a casino that originates from a country where payments are made in Pounds, Euros, and Dollars. Before you register at the casino, we recommend that you find out what payment methods the casino offers and make sure that one of them suits you. Every casino offers the option of paying by card or bank transfer, but these payment methods usually take longer to process and involve fees that you have to pay to your bank.

Step 4
Get the welcome bonus
Get the welcome bonus

The vast majority of online casinos have an entry bonus available for new players, which the player receives for the first deposit to the selected online casino. This bonus is most often in the amount of 100% of your first deposit, which means that when you deposit, for example, 20 pounds, you will get another 20 pounds from the casino, which you can use to play in the casino. Whatever you win for these 20 bonus pounds from the casino will be credited to your player account. The aim of this bonus is to force the player to consider the size of his first deposit, and in case he wants to get a higher bonus, he will deposit more than the minimum deposit. This is 5 or 10 pounds in most casinos.

Step 5
Choose the blackjack game
Choose the blackjack game

Every quality casino has several variants of Blackjack available to its players, which we will describe in this article. In case you are interested in one particular variant of Blackjack, make sure that the casino of your choice has it on offer. If not, find out what variants the casino has available and read more about them. It is possible that you will discover a new variant that you will enjoy. There are many companies that make online Blackjack games. We will mention the best ones in this article. It is a good idea to make sure that the casino offers games from these leading software providers, as this can greatly affect the quality of your game.

You can also convince yourself because all licenses under which the online casino works are listed at the bottom of the web page. You will have a lot of fun playing Black Jack and earn money this way!

Features of online blackjack in the UK online casinos

Online blackjack also has many advantages in UK casinos. Blackjack is a game that is easy to play. This card game is usually played by two or more players and a croupier.

  • Many players choose this game for several reasons:
  • The simplicity in the rules.
  • Blackjack has the best RTP of any card game.
  • Casino gaming with live dealers is possible.
  • Playable with bonus money. We will also detail each point below. You can find each of these benefits at online casinos recommended by our experts.

1. Online blackjack has simple rules

There is no simpler, more understandable, but at the same time exciting casino card game than blackjack. Compared to poker, baccarat, or any other card game, the rules of blackjack are fairly simple, which allows newcomers to iGaming to try their hand at gambling. Blackjack rules are simple and can be mastered in minutes. However, there are several variants of blackjack, the rules of which differ slightly from each other.

Gamblers should always remember that the object of the game is to beat the dealer by scoring more points, but no more than 21. If you have an ace and a ten, this is called blackjack. As a result of such a combination, the player automatically wins. Then the bet is multiplied by 1.5 to increase the total win. The combination will not work if the dealer has the same combination.

Simple blackjack rules:

  1. The croupier deals two cards to the gamblers and two cards to himself (1 card face up, the other face down).
  2. Blackjack Card Values: All cards in blackjack are counted at their face value: face cards = 10, the ace as either 1 or 11. The suit of the cards has no meaning in blackjack. The total of a hand is the sum of the card values in the hand. Blackjack online can only be created with an ace and a ten. Jack, Queen and King – each has 10 points. The ace can be compared to both 1 and 11, depending on which combination is the most advantageous. Aces are the most important cards in blackjack. Cards numbered 2-10 are worth their respective value: if players were dealt a card numbered 4, it earns them 4 points.
  3. Players must decide whether to stand, hit, surrender, double down or split.
  4. The croupier acts last.
  5. Gamblers win if their blackjack hand is higher than the croupier’s hand, or they have 21 or less, or if the croupier busts.

2. The online jackpot has the highest RTP among other online casino games

Blackjack has the best odds of winning among other online casino games. The house edge in blackjack casino sites can range from 0.05% to 1% in a single deck game. This makes this game one of the most profitable for gamblers in Austrian blackjack online casinos.

3. It is possible to play live blackjack in online casinos

Online blackjack is also present in casinos with live dealers. This allows the gambler to feel the pleasure of playing in a real casino. Many gambling site users want to feel the presence of real people in the game and not just an inanimate slot machine.

4. Multi-Hand Blackjack Game (High Roller)

If you like the constant thrill of blackjack, then playing multiple hands makes the game even more action-packed. There are several reasons why gamblers love playing this type of online blackjack:

  • Players want to speed up gameplay.
  • The gamblers change the number of hands in hopes of changing the “cards”.
  • For some users, this approach helps to win more often, since they have more information about the dealt cards in each hand. We want to share interesting and useful information about online multi-hand blackjack so that gamblers can clearly understand how it differs from betting differs on a single hand.

Let’s start with the obvious:

  • If you bet on two or more hands instead of one, you will play more hands per hour.
  • If you start betting on two hands, the croupier will deal twice as many cards for the same period of time as in the classic version of the game.

Let’s summarize:

  • When you split your total bet across multiple hands, you reduce the chance of losing quickly and thus your chances of winning big.
  • By betting the same amount of real money on a pair of hands, you run the risk of losing your entire bankroll faster, but you also increase the likelihood of winning the big amount. Now you understand the difference between betting on a hand and playing with multiple hands. Then decide for yourself which approach you like best.

Online blackjack types

Since each game of chance presented in the UK online casino has different types and subspecies, blackjack does not ignore this principle.

Online blackjack is divided into two main types: live and virtual blackjack, as well as by the type of game rules – of which there are many, today we will tell you some of them. Read more about the main types of online blackjack below. Also, remember that the online casinos offered by our team have all types of blackjack available and test a number of factors that define them as the best and most trusted casino gambling platforms in this niche.

Live Blackjack

The game remains the same but the atmosphere has changed for the better and has become more interesting with the presence of a live dealer or the use of a virtual setup. If you are looking and want the ultimate blackjack experience but don’t want to visit the casinos in town, try live blackjack at the UK gambling sites.

The beauty of Live Blackjack is that you are playing with a real croupier. You can communicate with him within reasonable limits and really get the feeling of sitting at a real blackjack table, for example at Caesars Palace in Vegas. You can see your chips and cards from different camera angles and get the same betting options as in a regular casino. And the best part is that it’s all happening in real life. At this point, you are not playing against a computer but against a real person.

The peculiarity of live casino games is that they are often accompanied by bonuses, promotions, tournaments, and even progressive jackpot bets. This is something that is rarely available in land-based casinos. And that’s why more and more players like to play live blackjack and not any other version of it.

But how do you find the best casinos? Don’t worry, our team has already taken care of it. We have compiled the latest and greatest sites for playing live blackjack.

How to get started with Live Blackjack?

Here is a little guidance from our team.

  1. First, you need to register an account at an online casino if you don’t already have one on this player site.
  2. Choose your favorite live dealer game from the table of different games.
  3. Open the game and you will see the game menu and chat. You can chat with the croupier. Don’t forget politeness!
  4. To play blackjack online, use the in-game buttons. For example, to play Blackjack, select Hit.
  5. All winnings will be credited to your balance and account.

A real live croupier will appear on your screen and you will have the opportunity to chat with him in real-time. The dealer stands directly in front of the camera, which broadcasts all his movements. All cards in the deck contain microchips linked to a complex computer program. When the croupier deals cards, the microchips interact with the software, which then translates that action onto your screen. Before the deal, the dealer waits for you to place your virtual bet. After the bets are settled, the croupier begins the deal. You can see how the cards are dealt. All important details, such as the current account balance, are displayed on the screen. Gamblers can communicate with the dealers and also tip the croupier, just like in a normal casino.

Virtual Online Blackjack

Many leading game providers are releasing virtual online blackjack, which is fast-paced and exciting. These include Blackjack by NetEnt and Blackjack Lucky Ladies by Felt. These versions usually allow you to bet on different hands by moving the chips to the betting boxes.

Each game provider has their own style, but many games take a similar approach with a clean layout and simple controls. In virtual blackjack, results are obtained using the RNG software package (from English – RNG, which stands for Random Number Generator). His job is to ensure fair and unexpected outcomes on every bet.

Virtual blackjack is a game played between a player and a computer. No more than 7 Gamblers can participate in the game. To start the game, the fake computer dealer (croupier) deals cards. He places two cards face up in front of each player and then two cards in front of himself, one face down. The object of the game is to get as close as possible to the sum of 21 points according to the total value of the cards in hand without exceeding this number.

While some people prefer to go to a real casino, others prefer live games. Today’s gamblers love to gamble online. With virtual blackjack available 24 hours a day on PC and mobile, gamblers can start playing online blackjack anywhere, anytime.

What is the difference between live dealer blackjack and RNG Blackjack?

Live Blackjack with a Random Number Generator (RNG) is a great way to try out this game. The notable difference between online blackjack is whether or not a human croupier is present. In this case, the live dealer is streamed to your screen from the sleek casino, allowing you to interact with the croupier as you play.

Blackjack games with ZZG are presented in the form of virtual cases with a computer and a random distribution of cards. In this case, it is the casino software that ensures complete honesty and randomness of the outcomes in every hand. Which of these different approaches is the best way to play blackjack online? To be honest, it really comes down to personal preference as to what you prefer.

Blackjack online casino bonuses

When you register at an online casino in the UK where you want to play Blackjack, you will encounter two types of bonuses. Almost every casino offers a first deposit bonus. The amount of this bonus can be several thousand euros and depends primarily on the amount of the player’s first deposit. Only some casinos offer a bonus for registration, and it usually amounts to up to 10 pounds.

Welcome bonus on the first deposit

The most common type of bonus in online casinos is the entry bonus, which players receive when they make their first deposit to the casino. This bonus is usually set as a multiple of your deposit and is limited to a minimum and maximum possible value. So the bonus can look like, for example, that the casino promises you 100% of your first deposit as a bonus, up to, for example, 1000 pounds.

Blackjack is a game where you can greatly influence the development of the game with your own decisions. We recommend choosing the amount of the bet according to your starting capital and especially according to your experience with this game.

Online Blackjack Rules

Learn the rules of blackjack! Want to try the classic card game Blackjack but don’t know how to (well) play it? We will help you! Here in our guide, we walk you through blackjack rules and provide tips for players of all levels.

Blackjack Rules and Odds – Play Like a Pro

Unlike other casino games where luck determines the outcome of the game, blackjack is a game where skill and knowledge are paramount. To be successful, you must learn blackjack! So how you play your hands and how your decisions affect the outcome.

How does blackjack work? In this guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know about how to play like a real pro. Does that sound harsh? That’s not surprising. If you’re brand new to blackjack, there are probably a few question marks at this point. But hopefully, this guide will make you feel more informed about blackjack game rules.

How does online blackjack work?

Although there are many blackjack rules and things to know before you start playing, the aim of the game is very simple: winning blackjack “easily” means beating the dealer! There are three different ways to do this (while observing the dealer rules):

  • By getting a hand that is worth more than the dealers.
  • When the dealer gets a hand higher than 21.
  • If you’re lucky, you’ll get 21 on your first hand while the dealer doesn’t.

But just as there are many ways to win, there are of course also many ways to lose:

  • Your hand gets a value over 21. This is called going bust.
  • The dealer’s hand has better value than yours at the end of the round.

Note: If there are other players at the blackjack table, their hands are irrelevant to the win. It’s all about beating the dealer!

Online blackjack odds

To become a good player you need to understand how the game is played and how odds and probabilities are involved. When you’re at the blackjack table, your odds of winning depend on the cards in your hand and the decisions you make. How likely it is for you and the dealer to bust when you hit 21 also depends on how many decks the game is being played with.

The house edge in online blackjack

And then of course there is the house edge. The house edge is always present in casino games and the reason for this is that the casino also needs to make some money to keep going. But even if it is impossible to eliminate this benefit, it is possible to reduce it.

Normally the house has an 8 percent edge, but through strategies like basic blackjack strategy, it is possible to reduce the edge to 0.2-0.5 percent. We have written a separate blackjack strategy guide that you should read as well. But while the house always has an advantage, there are also advantages for the player. Advantages that the house does not have!

Below are various options that improve the odds and optimize the game:

  • When a player is dealt blackjack, he or she gets an especially good payout, paying out 3:2 (2.5 times the bet). Unless the dealer also gets a blackjack. In this case, we get the stake back instead.
  • As a player you have many options, you can always choose whether to hit or stand, while the dealer has limited options. For example, the dealer must always draw all card combinations up to 17.
  • You can also use the double-down function, i. H. You can double your bet on favorable occasions to maximize your winnings.
  • You can also choose to split pairs so you can improve your weaker hands while taking advantage of the dealer’s weaker hands!
  • In many cases, you can also choose to “surrender” and get half your stake back. This is great when you’re on a bad hand and the dealer has a better one. An option that the dealer cannot choose. However, please note that surrender is not possible at all blackjack tables and depends on the blackjack rules of the table in question.

Online Blackjack Moves

During a game, you can make multiple moves to try to beat the dealer’s hand. Your chances will increase if you follow the strategies developed specifically for this game. Once you’ve received your first two cards, you have the following options:

  • Hit
If you hit, ask the dealer for another card to supplement your hand with the aim of getting closer to 21. You can keep asking for new cards until you either stop or bust.
  • Stand
With the standing, you pass the round because you are satisfied with your result. In this case, you are not dealt any more cards, instead, you play with the cards you already have in hand.
  • Split
This move allows you to split a hand made up of a pair of identical cards into two separate hands. When you split, you also make a second bet equal to the first, then you are dealt a second card for each of the two cards and play the two hands independently.
  • Double Down
With Double Down Blackjack, you double your original bet by calling for an extra card. This move is used when the player is in a strong situation while the dealer’s card appears weak.
  • Bust
The term “bust” means that the player (or the dealer) busts. In this case, the hand is a loser because the score exceeds 21.

Online Blackjack Payouts

In online blackjack, payouts for winning bets also vary depending on the moves made or the stage of the game where the dealer is losing.

Profit Payout
Instant blackjack x1.5
normal hand x2
After the double down x2 on the total bet
After the split x2 for each hand won
Doubling after split x2

Side bets in online blackjack and how they work

Regardless of which online casino you choose to learn blackjack at, there are also a number of side bets available that you can use in different ways. Below we look at the most common side bets. However, keep in mind that it is important to follow the correct blackjack rules in any new game as they can vary depending on the game table and the side bets used.

Insurance

Insurance is a side bet that you can use when the dealer is showing an ace. This insures you against a possible blackjack on the dealer side. You can then bet half your original bet and bet indirectly that the dealer will get 21. This bet gives you triple the stake, which means you neither win nor lose anything if it turns out that the dealer actually has 21!

Here’s an example: Suppose you bet £40 and you have a hand of 10 and 7. The dealer’s first card shows an ace. Here you decide to take insurance and bet half your original bet, which is £20, on that the dealer has 21. If the dealer actually has Blackjack (21), you win triple the bet you placed on your side bet! At the same time, you lose your original bet. That’s how it’s done:

You win £60 (£20 for the side bet x 3) and lose £60 (£20 for the side bet + £40 for the original bet). You just go about zero but would have lost £40 if you didn’t have insurance. On the other hand, if the dealer does not have blackjack, you only lose your side bet of £20 but win your original bet.

Good, is not it?

Perfect pairs

Another side bet is the so-called “Perfect Pair”. And here you are simply betting that you will get one type of pair, and there are three different ones:

  • Mixed Pair
The mixed pair is the simplest pair combination since neither suit nor suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts, or spades) plays a role. You simply win if your two cards have the same number (e.g. 10+10) or the same face (e.g. two queens). Mixed pairs pay 6:1.
  • Colored pairs
The only requirement here is that the cards are of the same suit. Like an ace of hearts and an ace of diamonds (both red, but the suit is the same). Colored pairs pay 12:1.
  • Perfect Pair
A perfect pair is the hardest to get because you have to get two cards that are exactly the same and of the same suit. For example two aces of spades or two tens of diamonds. Perfect pairs pay 25:1.

21+3 blackjack side bets rules

This is a particularly popular variant of blackjack and that’s why we’re going to walk you through the 21+3 blackjack rules here. 21+3 blackjack means that not only your own two cards are used for the bet, but also the up card dealt to the dealer.

With those three cards (your own two + the dealer’s up card) you want to get one of the following five combinations: a suited triple, straight flush, three of a kind, straight or flush, and depending on which you win 101x, 41x, 31x, 11x or 6x your stake.

  • Suited Triple
This combination is the most difficult to obtain as all three cards must be exactly the same. For example three 10s of spades or three fives all in hearts. Flush pays 100:1.
  • Straight Flush
Here all cards must be of the same suit and consecutive. For example, 7, 9, and 10 – all in crosses. Straight flushes are paid at 40:1.
  • Triplets
Three-of-a-kind is easier to come by than the two combinations we’ve described so far. Here you have to get three cards of the same type/picture, but the suit doesn’t have to be the same. For example Queen of Clubs, Queen of Hearts, and Queen of Diamonds. Three-of-a-kind pays 30:1.
  • Straight
Straight works just like a straight flush, except they don’t have to be of the same suit. It can be 6 of spades, 7 of diamonds and 8 of clubs. Straight pays 10:1.
  • Flush
A flush is easier to get because the three cards just have to be of the same suit. For example the 2 of diamonds, the 9 of diamonds and the king of diamonds. Flush pays 5:1.

Bet behind

Another side bet in blackjack is “bet behind”. Blackjack rules for betting behind a state that you can bet on another player’s hand and this can be a good option for beginners. Because betting means you don’t have to sit at the table and play! You simply place the chips you want to bet behind the bet in the spot you want to bet on. Before the first round.

The player sitting on the court then makes all decisions about how the hand is played. Tables that offer a bet behind the player will have a yellow star next to the player’s name. This star shows the number of consecutive winning hands this player has had, making it easier for you to decide who to bet behind.

Royal Match

This bet is based on the player’s first two cards being of the same suit, and Royal Match specifically means that the cards must be King and Queen. The stakes are 25:1 when using 6 decks of cards and 3:1 when using only 1 deck.

Over/Under

In some blackjack variants, it is also possible to bet over or under on the first card deal. You simply bet on whether the first two cards dealt will be under 13 or over 13.

Super Sevens

This side bet is a bet on whether you will get a seven or more. A seven is 3:1, two sevens of different suits are 50:1, and two sevens of the same suit are 100:1, etc.

Lucky Ladies

This side bet is paid out if the cards add up to 20. Without the same suit it pays 4:1 and if the cards are of the same suit it pays 10:1. If they are the same color and value, e.g. For example, two tens of diamonds pay 25:1. However, should you get “Queens of Fortune” – two Queens of Hearts – you are paid 200:1. If you are dealt two Queens of Hearts while the dealer has blackjack, you are paid 1000:1.

More side bets in online blackjack

The side bets described above are the most common, but there are other side bets that you can play at various live casinos. This includes:

  • Honey Bonus
Winnings are usually based on the player’s first two cards and the dealer’s up card. One exception is that the win for a suited blackjack must be the player’s first two cards.
  • Lucky 7
The Lucky 7 side bet is a bet that the player will get one, two or three 7s in a row – starting with the first card dealt. Only the cards in the player’s hand count, not the dealer’s up card.
  • Lucky Lucky
The player’s first two cards are combined with the dealer’s face-up (or community) card to form a three-card hand. Winning hands use the ranks 6-7-8, 7-7-7, or a three-card total of 19, 20, or 21.
  • Top 3
Top 3 is based on a three-card hand using the dealer’s one-up card and the player’s two-up cards. Winning three-of-a-kind or straight flush hands are paid according to the paytable.
  • Hot 3
This side bet is very similar to Lucky Lucky in that both are based on the player’s first two cards and the dealer’s up card and win on total points of 19-21.
  • Busters
The Buster Blackjack side bet allows players to win if the dealer busts. Odds-based payouts are based on the number of cards in the dealer’s busted hand.

How to play online blackjack – a sample round

Let’s walk through what a round of blackjack looks like, step by step.

1. Make a deposit!

Since it is not possible to play blackjack for free in the live casino, you must first make a deposit in the casino where you want to play. Our guide to the different payment methods provides more information.

2. Place your bet

Depending on the table you choose to play at, the minimum and maximum bets may differ. But remember, don’t bet more than you can afford to lose. We always recommend our readers set a gaming budget first.

3. The dealer deals the blackjack cards

When all players at the table have placed their bets, the dealer, also known as the dealer, begins dealing with the cards. Each player receives two cards while the dealer initially receives one card.

The dealer gave me a blackjack!

Congratulations! Now that you have the strongest possible hand, you can relax while the dealer takes his last card, and only then will you know if you’ve won or not. You can skip stepping 6 if you have a blackjack hand.

The dealer gave me cards that activated my side bets!

How nice! Then you have already won part of your money back. But the game goes on, let’s see what the next step looks like!

4. Time to make a decision!

Now that you know the blackjack rules, the values of each card, and the odds of winning, take some time and try to figure out what your chances of winning are when you either stand/stand, take, double or split blackjack. Depending on your choice, the game will continue or end here.

“Shit, I’m out!”

That’s what happens when it says “busted”! If you have more than 21 points, you lose regardless of the dealer’s cards. You are now out until the next round begins. However, with some variants, there is still the possibility of Blackjack Surrender, where you can fold early and get your bet back.

Still in game

If your hand is close to 21 and you choose to stand, you are still in the game. So let’s continue!

5. The dealer plays his hand

Once you and all the other players at the table have made a final decision, the dealer draws his final card. At this point, four different things can happen:

  • The dealer busts (exceeds 21) – everyone still in the game wins.
  • Your hand is worth less than the dealer’s – you lose.
  • Your hand is worth the same as the dealer’s – you may draw one more card.
  • Your hand is worth more than the dealer’s – you win!

6. Payout

This is the last step in the round. Depending on what you chose in step 4, there are now different payout scenarios:

  • If you win straight away with blackjack, you win 1.5 times your stake.
  • If you win with a “normal” hand, you win 1:1.
  • If you win after doubling your bet, you win 2x your bet.
  • If you win after splitting pairs, you win 1:1 for each hand.
  • If you double after splitting a pair, you win 2x the stake.

It’s easier to win at online blackjack with knowledge

On the one hand, you increase your personal chances of winning, and on the other hand, it is much more fun to successfully beat a game as a real expert!

Online Blackjack Variants

Learn about different variants of Blackjack. If you’re thinking about playing blackjack online, you’ll quickly find that there are a number of different variants of the game to choose from. Follow us, we will introduce you to some!

The best online blackjack variants

The popular card game blackjack can be found in casinos worldwide. At CasinoRatgeber, we help you keep track of the best blackjack variants. We’ll start by listing the most popular games and tell you a little bit about them.

  • American (classic) Blackjack
Classic blackjack is the variant on which the other forms are based. Here you win if your hand ends up being worth more than the dealer’s, or if the dealer goes bust, or – if you get a blackjack and the dealer doesn’t. Depending on where you play, the rules can be a little different, but at most online casinos, the basics will feel familiar no matter where you play.
  • European Blackjack
There are a few notable differences between American and European blackjack, primarily as follows:

    • The number of decks – in America there are 6-8 decks of cards and in Europe only 2.
    • The payout for Blackjack: In America, it is 3:2 or 6:5 and in Europe only 3:2.
    • Late Delivery – Allowed in America, not in Europe.
    • Doubling Down – Allowed in Europe when the hand total is 9, 10 or 11. In America, it is legal for any hand.
    • Rules Consistency – In Europe the rules are mostly consistent, in America, they change from game variant to game variant.

Beginners are usually advised to start with the European variant.

  • Vegas Strip Blackjack
Vegas Strip Blackjack uses 4 standard decks of cards and is very similar to classic blackjack with a few differences. Here the dealer must always stay on 17 and you, the player, can split your hands up to four times.
  • Progressive Blackjack
In progressive blackjack, you can place a side bet on a progressive jackpot each round. And in order to win, you have to be lucky with a certain combination of hands and have an ace in your hand. The jackpot itself varies depending on where you play but usually starts at £200,000.
  • Atlantic City Blackjack
This blackjack variant is known to be one of the most advantageous for the player. And that’s because of the relatively low house edge. And this in turn has to do with the fact that players can choose to “fold” and thus keep half of their bet. As the game became popular, it was possible to make an “early surrender”. However, with many casinos losing large amounts of money as a result, the rules have been changed and late surrender is now the rule. The rules of the game are very similar to the classic variant. However, this variant also has a disadvantage: A full 8 decks of cards are used.
  • Multi-hand Blackjack
Blackjack Multihand allows you to play multiple hands at the same time, which of course increases your chances of getting a blackjack. If you want to play multi-hand blackjack online, you will find that the game can differ in different casinos. The main differences are the number of hands you can hold at once and the number of decks used.
  • Double Exposure Blackjack
In the “Double Exposure” variant, the player sees the two cards that the dealer has. However, since the house needs to retain some edge, there are a few changes to the rules that set Double Exposure Blackjack apart from other variants. Among other things, you will not be able to choose “surrender” like in the classic version. Another change is that the dealer wins if their cards are equal unless the player is dealt blackjack.
  • Single Deck Blackjack
As the name suggests, this variant is played with only one deck of cards. This makes it easier to keep track of the cards and the mathematical decisions, although the cards must be reshuffled before each new game round. This is a variation that may be suitable for beginners!
  • Blackjack Switch Blackjack
Blackjack Switch works similarly to other variants, with the difference that you, the player, can swap a card from one hand to another to make a better combination. This also means that you are playing with two hands and therefore have to make a separate bet for each hand. This variant has a low house edge of 0.17%.
  • Great Fun 21 Blackjack
This variant is appreciated by many, it is modeled on the classic game, but in Super Fun 21 Blackjack there are more ways for the player to win. For example, you can split any pair up to four times, and aces are included. You can also double aces that have been split and more. The downside is that blackjack pays a flat amount instead of 2:1.
  • Pontoon Blackjack
This is an Australian version of the game. It introduces some new terms that mean the same thing but are referred to by different names. For example, “twist” means to take cards, “stick” means “stand” as we know it, and “buy” means double/split. Pontoon differs from other variants mainly in that the dealer has none of his cards face up in front of him, which of course affects the various options available to the player.
  • Perfect Pairs Blackjack
This is one of the most popular variants when it comes to playing online. The rules of the game are similar to classic blackjack, but include a side bet called “Perfect Pairs”. This side bet is therefore entirely optional, but if you choose to do so you will be rewarded for every pair you get during the game. You can get “Perfect Pairs”, “Colored Pairs” and “Mixed Pairs”. You can find out more about side bets here.
  • Spanish Blackjack 21
This blackjack variant is particularly appreciated by adrenaline-addicted players. That’s because the game features some exciting clashes! Among other things, six decks are stacked high while all 10s are removed from each deck. This affects the possibility of getting a big hand with fewer cards. Instead, you should bet on the low cards.

Which online blackjack variant should you choose?

Now that we have described the most common and popular blackjack variants, you may be wondering which game to choose. This is understandable because this decision does not seem too easy, especially if you are a beginner.

When it comes to blackjack variants, there are several things to consider when making your choice, including the rules, bets, and payouts. But there are also different strategies for different games! Luckily, we’ve written separate guides on this topic if you want to dig even deeper.

We will now give an assessment of which game variants are suitable for different types of players.

Blackjack variants with the lowest house edge

If it is important to you that the house edge is as low as possible, here are the house edges of the different games. We have summarized the house edge for popular games in a table for a better overview:

Bonus Blackjack 0.39%
Double Exposure Blackjack 0.69%
European Blackjack 0.39%

Are there common mistakes to avoid when playing online blackjack?

As we said, there are many blackjack variations and we can’t say there are variations to avoid, because of course it’s individual what you like! A game that someone else likes may not be for you and vice versa. However, there are common mistakes that are easily made by beginners that you should avoid. This includes:

  1. Not checking if the casino has a valid license
This is the first thing you should check before you click on the website or deposit any money into the blackjack online casino. Make sure the casino has a valid license because then you can be sure that the games are not being rigged and that the casino meets the high standards that licensed casinos are required to meet today.
  2. Not reading the rules beforehand
Before you start playing, you should carefully review each casino’s rules for the specific table you wish to play at. As we mentioned earlier in this guide, these can vary from casino to casino and table to table.
  3. I haven’t read up on how blackjack works
Of course, there is a degree of luck involved in winning at blackjack, but it is a game where skill and knowledge are essential. Before you sit down at a table, find out about the different variants of Blackjack and in particular which variant of the game you are interested in.
  4. You try to play when you are tired or drunk
This is a common mistake that many beginners unfortunately make. Blackjack is a game where you need to keep a clear head because all of your decisions during the game affect the outcome.
  5. Choosing an overly advanced strategy or game variant
This card counting sounds exciting and like a successful concept, doesn’t it? However, if you are new to blackjack, we do not recommend trying such advanced strategies. The same applies to the blackjack variant you have chosen. Choose a simple game like Classic or Single Deck to start with.
  6. Gamble to get rich
Oops, you might be thinking now. Gambling is all about winning, isn’t it? A common mistake is just playing to win. Don’t get us wrong – of course, it’s fun when you win! But your main reason for gambling online should be that it’s fun, nothing else. Instead, treat every win as a plus. If you want to gamble because you can afford to pay for things, win back lost money and so on, then unfortunately you are starting at the wrong end. There’s even a chance you’ll lose even more instead.
  7. Not having a gambling budget
No matter what casino game you want to play, be it blackjack, slots, poker or something else, you should set a gaming budget first. This way you can estimate how much you can afford to lose. And if you stick to your budget, avoid paying more than you can afford.

More about online blackjack

If you get bored playing blackjack in online casinos, just play a different variant. It’s that simple. Online blackjack offers a fascinating variety, and the software providers of these games outdo themselves with their creativity. Whether it is the sensational live show Lightning Blackjack from Evolution or another game from another manufacturer. Alongside roulette, blackjack is – and will remain – the king of online casinos. Hardly any game combines skill with luck, with variety and fun!

Online Blackjack Strategy

The best strategies for winning at blackjack. Our guide will help you perfect your game, starting with basic blackjack strategy.

“How to win at blackjack?” – is one of the most common questions among online casino players. In truth, there is no one answer that fits all situations, but by reading this guide you will become familiar with the blackjack strategy and then apply the one that best suits your situation. Here you will find the best blackjack tips!

Tips to consider before you start to play in blackjack online casinos

  1. The first thing you should do is familiarize yourself with the rules of the game so that you know what the odds are and what the stakes are per spin. Our Blackjack Rules Guide contains this important information.
  2. Choose the blackjack variant that you like the most. There are several that might interest you.
  3. Plan your budget in advance. How much are you willing to lose? Before starting the game, consider how much you can play in each session.
  4. Think about how much time you can really devote to the game. Playing at online casinos should be fun, but the time you spend playing it should never negatively impact your personal life. If you’re interested, read more about how to gamble responsibly.

Blackjack basic strategy

Blackjack’s basic strategy consists of a mathematical model that suggests the most effective move based on what hand you have. In our guide, we illustrate this with Blackjack Basic Strategy charts that show in a simple way how you should play your hand to maximize a potential win!

  • Hit or Stand?
Hit and Stand stand for Call and Call, respectively. When you have the first two cards, you can choose between these two options, in addition to doubling and splitting. If you are happy with the cards in your hand, you can choose to stand – stand. In this case, you call no cards and the game continues. The benefit of just focusing on “hit” or “stand” is that there are two fairly easy choices. The table below shows when to stand (S) and when to call (H) according to the basic blackjack strategy.
  • Double Down
With this strategy, you can double your bet, but at the same time, you can only add one card to your starting hand. Doubling down is a good option when you start with really good cards or when the dealer has a bad hand and risks going over 21.
  • Split/Share
In blackjack, you can split pairs of the same cards. For example, if you have two 4s that combine to form a hand of 8, you can split that hand into two separate hands, each worth four. A split requires you to place an additional bet equal to your original bet. But which situation is best for splitting a pair? We advise you to split if the cards in your hand are very high or higher than the dealer’s.
  • Soft 17 rule
In most casino blackjack games, the dealer must hit if he hits 16 or less and stand if he hits 17 or more. However, at some tables the dealer is required to hit a “soft” 17, meaning he has a chance to increase his score to 21.
  • Surrender
Surrender means you give up your hand to keep half of your original bet. You should consider this option if the dealer has a higher value hand than you. For example, if the dealer has an ace while you have a hard hand valued between 12 and 17.

Advanced blackjack strategy

Once you’ve mastered the basics, you may decide to add slightly more complicated strategies to your repertoire. But first, you should master the basic strategy we’ve covered so far.

There are many types of advanced blackjack tactics! But unlike basic blackjack strategy, an advanced strategy generally goes deeper into the dynamics of the game and takes into account elements like counting cards, how many decks are played, how they are shuffled, etc.

Blackjack card counting

Welcome to the category: Blackjack Tricks! Blackjack card counting is all about keeping track of all the cards dealt during a game so you can choose your next play considering the cards played in previous hands.

If lower-value cards were played in previous rounds, higher-value cards are among the unplayed cards. The higher the score, the higher your bet should be because that means there are still many high cards in the deck that can lead you to blackjack, or at least a high score.

Also, remember that your score should be divided by the number of decks you are playing with at the table. For example, if the number of cards is +16 and there are 4 decks left, the card count is 16/4 = +4. But you have to be realistic. Not many players have the time or mental focus during gameplay to master this strategy.

How to count cards?

There are several blackjack systems that you can use to count blackjack. Each of these systems assigns a specific score to specific cards. And as a general rule, the higher the score, the more high cards there are in the deck, making it easier to get closer to that fateful 21!

  • Hi-Lo
The Hi-Lo counting system, which has its origins in the early 1960s, is the most popular counting system in blackjack due to its simplicity. Here a +1 is added to cards between 2 and 6, while one point is subtracted from ace, 10, and trick. No points are awarded for the remaining cards.
  • KO
In the KO system, you must add one point to each card valued 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 and subtract one point from aces and 10s. With the KO system, you essentially increase your bet on a positive count and decrease it on a negative count.
  • Zen
The Zen counting system is one of the more complex counts. Basically, you add 1 for every 2’s, 3’s, and 7’s; 2 for all 4, 5, and 6; subtract 2 for every 10, and remove 1 for every ace, ignoring all other cards.

What strategy should I follow?

Of course, when it comes to choosing a basic blackjack strategy, it can be difficult to know which strategy to choose or which one to start with. Also, there are many different blackjack variants, primarily online, which makes it even more difficult. Which strategy you choose depends entirely on your budget and experience. Classic blackjack is the most suitable variant for beginners.

Best strategies for beginners

If you are still a beginner, we advise you to avoid more advanced playing methods like blackjack card counting. Instead, we suggest you start the game by following a basic strategy. Following a basic strategy won’t guarantee you a win every round, but it will help you understand and use the best play.

Best strategies for professionals

However, if you are an experienced player, you can also consider more advanced strategies. Some examples:

  • Card counting. This strategy, as mentioned earlier, consists of counting which cards have been played, evaluating them, and which ones remain in the deck. Casinos don’t like this strategy very much, so we don’t recommend it.
  • Martingale system. The Martingale is a strategy that aims to win back lost money with a single win. A goal is achieved by doubling your stake after every losing bet. However, this strategy requires a really big budget, so it is not suitable for players who cannot afford to lose a lot.
  • Oscar’s grind. With this strategy, on each losing bet you bet the same amount as the previous hand, while after each winning bet you add your original bet to the amount of the previous bet.

Common beginner mistakes to avoid in blackjack online casinos

Having gotten this far, we’ve reviewed several blackjack tricks that you can add to your gaming repertoire. But it’s also important to give space to what we believe are the most common mistakes made by beginners at the blackjack table, although they are fairly easy to avoid.

1. You do not carefully read the rules of the blackjack table you are playing at.

The rules of the game may differ from table to table. So before you start, make sure you know which rules apply! Things to check are for example:

  • Does the dealer stand on soft 17?
  • Can you choose to give up?
  • Is it possible to double down after splitting pairs?

2. Never choose yield

We’ve discussed this before, but in certain cases, it can be a good decision to go for the Surrender (if the option is available). Instead of losing the entire bet, you lose half of it! Instead of trying to win every single hand, it’s better to learn to read the game and protect your bankroll. This is a decision that can only bring benefits in the long term.

3. Don’t forget, it’s not all about luck

If we compare blackjack to other casino games, we can see that it definitely requires a greater component of skill and knowledge. A good blackjack game isn’t just about luck! All your decisions have weight and a mathematical implication: whether you win a hand or not is up to you and not (just) to chance. Once you fully understand this aspect of blackjack, your game will have a greater tactical component.

Final thoughts on blackjack online casinos

You should definitely do that. The atmosphere at Casino Blackjack is unique; plus a wide variety of bets and side bets; countless variants such as multi-hand blackjack or other variations. Plus the incomparable sound; the rattling of the chips – for me personally this is a fantastic experience!

We’ll just give you a tip: familiarize yourself with the rules beforehand, with all the rules, including the side bets and other points that seem unimportant. At least check out the strategies on our site; come up with a few strategies. I’m not saying that you will win at the casino, but at least you will increase your chances by knowing this! Have fun!

There are many different blackjack rules and it varies from table to table which rules apply, but also depending on what variant of blackjack you are playing! Read more about blackjack rules in our guide.

There's a whole lot of that! Note, however, that not all of them are available at all tables. The most common side bets in blackjack are: Perfect Pairs, 21+3, Bet Behind, Royal Match, Over/Under, Super Sevens and Lucky Ladies.

There are a number of different strategies in blackjack. You can learn more about blackjack strategy in our dedicated guide.

You can do this at a variety of online casinos! And you can choose between virtual blackjack (against the computer) or live casino, where you can play against a real dealer.

Today there are hundreds of different variants of blackjack! But some of the most popular are: European or American Blackjack, Pontoon, Super Fun 21, Vegas Strip Blackjack, Single Deck and more. We'll cover many of them in our guide!

Today, most online casinos offer different variants, with the range, of course, differing from casino to casino. You can find information on how to do this in our guide here.

To win at blackjack, you must either get a blackjack without the dealer getting one, or your hand must be worth more than the dealer's at the end of the round. You also win if the dealer busts, meaning he scores more than 21 on.

You should choose a strategy that suits your level of play. If you are a beginner, we recommend a basic blackjack strategy. That way you don't have to worry about making a wrong move, because the main goal of basic strategy is precisely to recommend the mathematically most efficient bet based on the players' cards.

If you are a beginner, you should rather play classic blackjack and follow the basic strategy.

That depends on your priorities and what you are looking for! Do you want big wins? Fun? tension? As a beginner, you should start with the classic game.

Most online casinos give you the opportunity to play blackjack online for free. This is easy to do in the demo mode of the RNG blackjack games, i.e. the ones with computer simulation. There you get demo money and can test blackjack in peace and get a feel for it, as well as try out different betting strategies.

Blackjack is a simple game in itself. Nevertheless, you should know when to act and how (hit, split, stand). This is important to your success at blackjack. The best blackjack strategy with the best odds can be found on our site. Learn to play like a pro!
